Matthew Sargeant

Matthew Sargeant, Owner/New Purpose Sober Homes

Matthew has been in the recovery world for over 5yrs working as an Administrative Specialist for an outpatient center, doing interventions, being a sober escort, and living and managing in sober housing while working with local treatment centers as well as across the country.

Matt enjoyed growing up in a middle-upper-class family, his grandfather was a physician, and his father worked in sales and investing. He was homeschooled by his mother with his 3 siblings, growing up, he played in sports leagues, was involved in the church, and did weekly charity work.

From straight A's to dropping out of school, Matt faced an 11yr battle with drugs and alcohol that controlled his life, causing jail time, probation, months of mandatory state-run support groups, drug testing, and lots of court fees. Finally, an ultimatum was given to Matt for either a jail sentence or going to a long-term recovery rehab center for 1 year. There he lived in a house with 40 other men, where they were to ride bikes everywhere they went, attend 2 AA meetings a day, go to an Intensive Outpatient Center (IOP) 4 days a week, and see a therapist. He adjusted to living on a $50 weekly allowance, doing community service, finding a local job, and having nightly house meetings where all the men would check in with one another, giving support while also giving consequences out to those who did not follow the rules.

After 13 months Matt finished his stay and after having a mental and spiritual change as a result of his experience he found himself with a new motivation, to help those still sick and suffering from their addiction and the underlying problems.

Steven Sargeant, Investor/Business Advisor

As both an investor and the father of Matthew Sargeant, Steve shares the vision of New Purpose Sober Homes. He has worked in sales, business development, and investing for over 45 years. Having retired from the workforce, He now devotes his time to both managing investments and supporting projects like New Purpose Sober Homes.

Steve has seen firsthand the struggle of his son to deal with drug addiction and how it was headed to a very heartbreaking end. However, thanks to the help of many in the rehab/recovery community, including the support of an excellent sober living home, he now enjoys a close relationship with a very transformed son. He is very excited about the vision of developing multiple Sober Living homes to see other sons, daughters, fathers, and mothers get the support they need to recover and live their best lives.
